CANSCAIP Members and Friends across Canada are invited to REGISTER for our monthly membership meetings, held via Zoom on the second Wednesday of each month. On the day of the meeting, CANSCAIP sends the Zoom link to everyone who has registered. Guests are welcome at our meetings, and can contact office@canscaip.org to request the Zoom link.

ZOOM LINK: On the day of the meeting, CANSCAIP sends the Zoom link to everyone who has registered.

FORMAT: Meetings are via Zoom, on the second Wednesday of each month,  and attended by Members and Friends across Canada.  The meetings open with remarks by president Sharon Jennings, followed by announcements by Members and Friends, and then presentations by the meeting speakers. During the meeting, attendees can type questions into Chat, which will be read aloud by the meeting coordinator.  Everyone is encouraged to linger after the meeting--we'll have breakout rooms where we can talk to each other in smaller groups.

    MEETING TOPIC & SPEAKERS:  Annick Press is recognized around the world for innovative and award-winning books for young readers of all ages, and generations of readers have loved classics like Robert Munsch’s The Paper Bag Princess and Kathy Stinson’s Red is Best. Annick publishes topics as diverse as Indigenous residential schools (Fatty Legs), environmental awareness (Rewilding: Giving Nature a Second Chance), and many other complex issues young people deal with every day, including Stormy Seas: Stories of Young Boat Refugees, #NotYourPrincess: Voices of Native American Women and Funny, You Don’t Look Autistic: A Comedian’s Guide to Life on the Spectrum.

    Editorial director Katie Hearn has been at Annick for more than 10 years, and has worked on a wide range of award-winning books for young readers. Many CANSCAIPers have worked with Katie as their editor!

    Gayna Theophilus has been rights and sales director for Annick for more than a decade. Gayna recently added acquiring editor to her role, and will be expanding Annick’s list of titles that amplify BIPOC voices.

    Natasha Deen (moderator) writes for kids, teens, and adults. Her stories have been CCBC Best Picks, Junior Library Guild selections, and nominated for many awards.
