SUE TODD
Make sure to catch Capturing Imagination: The Art of Storytelling, a major exhibit of children's book artwork by Canadian illustrators. Capturing Imagination is presented by CANSCAIP, in partnership with Humber College School of Creative and Performing Arts.
Capturing Imagination: The Art of Storytelling
Monday to Friday, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm until October 17
L Space Gallery (open to the public)
Humber College Lakeshore Campus
L Building, Room L1002
21 Colonel Samuel Smith Park Dr. (Kipling & Lakeshore)
The art show will also be open to Packaging Your Imagination and Pitch Perfect attendees on October 18 and 19.
Some artists in the exhibit will be new to viewers, and others will be familiar, like Brenda Clark, Michael Martchenko, Barbara Reid and Werner Zimmermann. (Sue Todd's work is displayed above.)
Many of the pieces include preliminary sketches for a behind-the-scenes look at the creative process. Text, in each artist's own words, provides their perspectives on their medium, creative process and art training, as well a list of some of their favourite children's book illustrators.
A sketch book and pencils is on hand for visitors to create their own drawings. Visitors can also complete a short survey about their own favourite children's books.
Capturing Imagination: The Art of Storytelling will delight art lovers and book lovers of all ages. Don't miss it!
